Celebrating 25 Years of Origin Spinal Injury Care

5th January 2026

This year marks a remarkable milestone for us here at Origin Spinal Injury Care: 25 years as a leading UK provider of specialist live-in spinal injury care, ensuring adults across the UK with spinal injuries can live with spontaneity and freedom of choice.

Founded in March 2001, Origin was built on a belief that people with spinal injuries deserve not just specialist care, but the opportunity to live the fullest, richest lives possible. A quarter of a century later, that belief continues to guide us, and we’re proud to have supported hundreds of adults with spinal injuries across the UK.

One thing that has remained constant over the past 25 years is the leadership of our founders, Peter Henry (Chairman) and Linda Adamsen (Managing Director), who continue to guide the organisation today.  Their ongoing, personal involvement is what makes us unique, because their leadership is more than symbolic; it’s personal.

Peter lives with a complete C5/6 spinal cord injury and is not just the organisation’s Chairman, he’s also a client. His insight ensures Origin’s services are grounded in real-world needs and the everyday realities of spinal injury. Linda brings a wealth of care management experience and deep industry knowledge, shaping the rigorous standards and compassionate culture that Origin is known for – something we call the Origin Way.

Together, their shared vision has driven Origin from day one: to transform spinal injury care so that every individual receives the support they need to rebuild their life with dignity, independence and hope.

Over 25 years at the helm, they have led huge change, with highlights including:

  • We have regularly supported Back Up Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by spinal cord injuries, to get the most out of life. We’re proud to have supplied countless PAs for their courses over many years.
  • Transforming an old building in Collioure, France into wheelchair accessible holiday accommodation, allowing clients and the wider spinally injured community to explore the Mediterranean coast.
  • Introducing Care Quality Commission regulation for the first time in 2009.
  • Bringing our specialist, bespoke training courses in-house, providing highly-regarded CPD-accredited training for all new care staff joining us, as well as regular refresher training.
  • Becoming a National Trusted Care Partner with the Spinal Injury Association.

As we celebrate our 25th year, we will honour the people who have shaped our journey: clients, families, carers, partners, and the wider spinal injury community. Watch this space!
