Origin’s live-in care services have been developed with your independence in mind. Because we specialise in spinal injury care and are highly client focused we are able to be flexible and innovative in our response to individual needs. Our professional yet personal consideration and attention to detail enables us to provide tailored live-in care services that help you achieve your independence. At the heart of our service is the aim to be the best at what we do – not the biggest!

• Our short term respite care services, from 48 hours or longer offer a unique flexibility
• Specialist live-in support service for release from hospital or spinal unit
• Origin PAs can accompany you on holidays abroad or on business trips either in the UK or overseas

Care Funding

Funding options are varied and often complex, involving private or social services funding, Continuing Health Care or Personal Health Budgets. Origin clients can fund their care privately or with assistance from any other source. Our Care Managers are experienced in working with clients for whom careful consideration for optimum funding options is required.

Many of our clients access Continuing Health Care funding which allows them to use a care agency or employ their own PA for both social and health care, which may require regular assessments for compliance.

All of Origin’s services can be paid for using Personal Health Budgets.

Finding the right PA

At Origin we appreciate how important it is to find the right PA (Personal Assistant) to make independent living a reality, which is why we put so much thought and effort in our carer selection, training and placement.
All our PAs are;

• trained and assessed in specialist spinal injury care
• carefully selected and personally interviewed (face to face, not on Skype)
• reference checked
• matched to individual client preferences and lifestyles
• English speaking, though may be visitors to Britain

Care of the Individual with Spinal Injury

In order to achieve the highest levels of service, for which we are renowned, Origin has developed a unique training course; Care of the Individual with Spinal Injury.  Based on Care Certificate standards and using Care Certificate learning resources the certificated, specialised training course must be attended and passed by all Origin carers. This is an intensive five day course and covers areas as diverse as the physiology of spinal injury, food hygiene, fire safety, moving and handling and personal care including bowel management.
